Business Situation

Setup migration was being done manually by business & IT teams. This resulted in a very complicated deployment strategy for new entity rollouts, new OU provisioning etc. The manual process was not only tedious but also led to massive amounts of errors and rework.

This resulted in severe delays on overall project schedules. They then decided to automate their Oracle Setup deployments with the aim to improve quality and accelerate implementation timelines.

Technical Situation

For Setup migration dataZap was deployed. The key to reducing manual work and errors was to automate setup migration tasks (such as copy of Org Units, Legal Entities & Business orgs), in an accelerated manner. The other challenge was to ensure that the repeatable process was also reliable, and one that ensured high data quality.

Solutions

The data was cleansed prior to the migration, using dataZap. The project implementation was done in 10 weeks.  The timeline was achieved using the dataZap’s preconfigured templates, which covered the Transformation, Mapping, Data Quality, Pre-validation, Extraction, Error handling and Data Loaders using Standard APIs and Interfaces.  The templates, along with the DQM engine ensured that the data flowing into the target was clean & compatible.

Pre-load, post load validation reports were generated for user review and approval. Post load reconciliation and verification was also carried out to ensure the migration was successful.

The organization leveraged dataZap’s BR100 reports for audit & reporting purposes.  Automated setup migration effectively reduced close to 60% of manual efforts.
